Beautiful Castles in Denver, Colorado

Beautiful castles located in Denver, Colorado including hotels that can be rented out for weddings and special occasions.

There are a number of castles and castle-like buildings and homes located in Denver, Colorado. Most of these castles in Denver were built for wealthy millionaires and a number of them were designed by noted Denver architect William Lang.

Some of these castles remain in private hands are not open to the public but can easily be seen from the streets they are located on. Two of the castles are hotels that can also be rented out for weddings and special occasions and one of the castles is a museum open to the public. All of these castles are great tourist attractions in Denver.

Dunning-Benedict Castle

Located at 1200 Pennsylvania Street in Denver is the Dunning-Benedict Castle. Built in 1889 for real estate millionaire Walter Dunning the Dunning-Benedict Castle is also known as Graystone Castle. Today the castle is home to a Denver law firm and not open to the public but is worth a visit for an outside photo.

Eppich Castle in Denver

Located at 1266 Emerson Street in Denver, Colorado is the Eppich Castle. Built in 1909 for businessman Louis Eppich the Eppich Castle is an apartment building today that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Castle Marne or the Wilbur S. Raymond House

Located at 1572 Race Street is Castle Marne which is also known as the Wilbur S. Raymond House. Built in 1889 for millionaire investment banker Wilbur S. Raymond by noted architect William Lang today Castle Marne is an elegant bed and breakfast hotel that is also available for weddings, parties and special occasions. Castle Marne is also open to the public for Afternoon Tea.

Richthofen Castle

Located at 7020 East 12th Street in Denver, Colorado is Richthofen Castle. Built from 1883-1887 by Baron Walter von Richthofen who was the uncle of Manfred von Richthofen the Red Baron WW I flying ace Richthofen Castle has 35 rooms and was the scene of a famous murder in 1911 when Gertrude Patterson shot and killed her husband Charles. Richthofen Castle is rumored to be haunted today.

Treat Hall at Johnson & Wales University

Located at East 18th Ave and Pontiac Street on the campus of Johnson & Wales University in Denver is the Treat Hall Castle. Treat Hall was built in 1890 for the Colorado Women's College and today Johnson & Wales is converting the building into a luxury hotel that will be run by students of the culinary college.

Denver Art Museum Castle

The North Building of the Denver Art Museum located in the Civic Center Cultural Complex on 13th Ave between Broadway and Bannock Streets in downtown Denver was built to somewhat resemble a castle in a modern way. The castle like building and art museum are certainly worth a trip by anyone staying at the nearby hotels in Denver.

Keating House Castle

Located at 1207 Pennsylvania Street is the Jeffrey and Mary Keating House Castle. Built in 1891 in Richardson Romanesque architectural style for lumber and real estate millionaire Jeffery Keating and his wife the Keating House is just down the street from the Dunning-Benedict House listed above.

Frank I. Smith House Castle

Located at 1435 Stuart Street in Denver is the Richardson Romanesque style Frank I. Smith House Castle that was built by architect William Lang in 1891.

Adolph J. Zang House Castle
